Write Queer London

08/11/2009

UntoldLondon is running its second annual Queer History Writing Prize in association with Chroma Queer Arts Journal. London has long been a place to find soul-mates, friends, lovers and a political haven from persecution. We welcome fact, fiction and poetry about gay life, and the history of gay lives in London. Events and Writing to Inspire You

There are all two free Write Queer London events

LGBT gallery tour - The British Museum 2pm Friday 4th December

Joe Orton Workshop - Islington Museum - 2pm Saturday 5th December.

Come along and be inspired by stories of gay lives from millennia ago to modern times. If you'd like to try your hand at writing but are a bit rusty, draw inspiration and confidence from our free workshops.

Writing fact

For factual pieces, you don't necessarily need to produce orginal research: good pieces of journalism, especially on less familiar gay subjects with a link to London, are very welcome.

Writing fiction

We suggest places and writing exercises for fiction writers (There are also some good leads here if you want to write a factual piece but need some ideas).

Browse the untoldlondon LGBT history section and see how other writers and historians reveal historical gay London.
