Cultural collections description

Redbridge Museum has a number of permanent displays which reflect the diversity of the London Borough of Redbridge, such as displays about an Asian bride (1980s), an Irish Dancer (1970s), Ilford Jewish Primary School (1900 – 2000) and an Afro-Caribbean family (1950s). In addition, other displays signify the diversity of the London Borough of Redbridge.

The Museum also has a group of objects, photographs, paper items, oral history and filmed interviews which help to tell the story of South Asian, East African Asian, Afro-Caribbean, Chinese, Irish and Jewish people in the Borough. Those items not on display can be viewed by appointment.

Throughout the year, the Museum’s exhibition, events and education programme seeks to reflect the diverse cultural heritage of local people.
