The Jewish Museum is truly unique. London’s only museum dedicated to the history and heritage of a cultural minority or individual faith - in one of the world’s most multicultural cities - we have strong relevance to many of the most important social issues facing the Britain today.

This museum has a Designated Collection of national importance.

The Jewish Museum is currently closed for major redevelopment project until March 2010. The £10 million project will transform the Museum creating new galleries, exhibitions and displays illustrating Jewish history, culture and religious life as part of Britain’s diverse heritage. While closed, the Museum continues to offer a wide range of events, exhibitions (on tour around the country) and education programmes. Visitors can keep in touch by joining the Museum's e-mailing list. Email subscribers receive advance notice of the Museum’s programme of events. The Museum Of London's new microsite allows you to search for the story of the many cultures of London in their collections.

This image shows Sir Mancherjee Bhownaggree, MP for Bethnal Green 1895 - 1906. A supporter of British rule in India, he was nicknamed 'bow-the-knee' by opponents. However he also lobbied parliament on the rights of Indian subjects.
