Greek Orthodox Cathedral of Saint Sophia with Museum

Greek Orthodox Cathedral of Saint Sophia, Moscow Road, Bayswater, London, W2 4LQ, England

The Greek Orthodox Church of St Sophia in Bayswater is opening a small museum in its crypt in October 2006. It will show various treasures donated to the cathedral by wealthy 19th century patrons, as well as a rotating display of material from the archives of the Greek community in London, stretching back to the 18th century.

This image shows Sir Mancherjee Bhownaggree, MP for Bethnal Green 1895 - 1906. A supporter of British rule in India, he was nicknamed 'bow-the-knee' by opponents. However he also lobbied parliament on the rights of Indian subjects.
