Hammersmith & Fulham Archives and Local History Centre
The Lilla Huset, 191 Talgarth Road, London, W6 8BJ, England
The work of the Archives covers the history of the borough of Hammersmith & Fulham. We are partcularly concerned with its administrative history but our collection illustrates other aspects too. We have material about ordinary people and celebrities, everyday life and special occasions.
We are constantly searching out new material, material we then look after (repairing if necessary) and make available to the public. We also organise exhibitions, publications and events which advertise our collections.
We have many visitors. Some are tracing their family histories - occasionally coming from the other side of the world to hunt for ancestors in West London. Others are interested in the history of their homes. They want to know when the house was built and who lived there. Some are writing local history books or are engaged in academic research. The Archives and Local History Centre is a reference service, and material cannot be lent.
