More venue information >
This exhibition at the Cuming Museum reveals the contributions made by black people to the home front in London during the Second World War. We look at the diverse jobs people did - from fire watching to entertaining the troops. The exhibition uncovers the lives of ordinary families as well as personalities such as Dr Harold Moody, Adelaide Hall and Ken 'Snakehips' Johnson. It also looks at the contributions made by people in West Africa and the Caribbean. The exhibition includes music, film, photographs and objects from the 1930s and 1940s. Come along - we'd love to hear any local memories you have too!
