World in the East End

The Museum of Childhood's World in the East End gallery reflects the mix of cultures living in the East End of London, which has frequently been the first home of people coming to London from overseas. The gallery looks at the populations from the first black immigrants in the 18th century, to Sephardi Jews, Romany and travelling Communities, and many others.

Glass cases contain more recently collected material from people living in the borough - each shelf containing everything from ceremonial costumes to beloved toys. This was a landmark exhibition for the Museum of Childhood, being their first major event to encompass the multiculturalism of Tower Hamlets.
