Ben Uri Gallery, The London Jewish Museum of Art, is Britain's oldest Jewish cultural organisation. It was established in 1915 in London's East End to provide support for the many Jewish artists and craftspeople

Its mission for this new century is to inform the widest public in Britain and abroad of the life, work and contribution of British and European artists of Jewish descent examined alongside their contemporaries as a seamless part of the rich mosaic of the National cultural heritage.

Important exhibitions held during the last four years have seen the Ben Uri establish a national and international position. Exhibitions include: Mark Gertler, Jacob Epstein, Jacob Kramer, Abram Games, Marc Chagall

The Museum Of London's new microsite allows you to search for the story of the many cultures of London in their collections.

This image shows Sir Mancherjee Bhownaggree, MP for Bethnal Green 1895 - 1906. A supporter of British rule in India, he was nicknamed 'bow-the-knee' by opponents. However he also lobbied parliament on the rights of Indian subjects.
